A Day With John Stevens
Bay Marin Aikido is honored to host John Stevens.
Born in Chicago, John Stevens lived in Japan for thirty-five years from age 25 to 60. He was professor of Buddhist Studies at Tohoku Fukushi University in Sendai, as well as the T.F.U. Aikido Club Shihan. His Aikido career began in 1973, initially training with Hanzawa Yoshimi Sensei and Saito Morihei Sensei. In the late 70s, his principal teacher became Shirata Rinjiro Sensei of Yamagata.
John’s first book, Aikido: The Way of Harmony, was published in 1984 which is based on Shirata Sensei’s technical and spiritual teachings. This was the first of many books on Aikido. Stevens continued to train with Shirata Sensei until the Master’s death in 1993.

Event begins at 10am. Lunch is on your own between 12 to 1:30. Afternoon session ends at 4pm.
